Charlie insists that Augusta’s leadership should do better to ensure that every neighborhood, regardless of social and economic status, is clean and beautiful. He pledges to make ongoing citywide beautification his priority. Hannah believes that clean areas nourish the residents’ souls, and well-maintained roadways bring a united pride.
Crime is a primary concern around Georgia and Augusta is no exception. Residents do not feel as safe as they could be. Crime is affecting our social and economic well-being and our reputation. Charlie is experienced with and dedicated to working with our local law enforcers, public educators, and social services to reduce our crime rates.
Augusta’s economic development initiatives must be realistic, appealing to growth, and for the common good of Richmond County. Charlie is a decisive and visionary leader that will build public-private relations to spur significant development opportunities, increase our tax base, improve job chances and increase wages.
Charlie will be the first Mayor to establish a strong partnership with the public school system. He views a working partnership as essential to developing a highly educated, diverse, and technical workforce. He will work to expand technical and soft skills training programs for students and low-income adults that employers readily need.
Demolishing salvageable homes to make way for upscale housing is not always the best economical solution. Charlie believes that revitalizing neighborhoods is essential to Augusta’s health and history. He will advocate for policies to ensure more homes and communities are restored and made available to low - moderate working-class families. These moves will only increase the tax base.
Augustans without reliable public transportation, adequate sidewalks, or streets free of damaging potholes know we have too many transportation problems to ignore. Charlie Hannah has experienced these issues, and he is dedicated to addressing Augusta’s transportation concerns.
Significantly reducing homelessness is a human rights issue, and it is a grave concern for Charlie. He remains compassionate to our homeless citizens, but he is aware of the dangers posed to them from the elements, hunger, and a lack of security. Hannah is committed to advocating for sustainable housing, programs and partnerships to improve their conditions & independence.
The budget must reflect our moral values, priorities, and residents' needs. Furthermore, the future holds no promises beyond what we envision and work to achieve. Charlie's vision is a budget that actually "works" for a greater Richmond County and not any one individual or entity.
To assure that Augusta remains a great place to raise families, get educated and work, Charlie believes in honest, bold, and pragmatic governance. He will facilitate sustainable revenue policies, support small businesses, attract new investors, and expand opportunities.
